Stud sizes of 90mm or 140mm provide an ideal depth for installing thermal insulation in a timber framed wall - but the thermal bridging effect of the timber, combined with typical U-value targets for walls, make an additional layer of insulation over the internal face of the studs all but essential.

The low emissivity foil facing of Celotex polyisocyanurate (PIR) insulation boards can improve the thermal resistance of airspaces it faces into, helping to meet required U-values while keeping insulation thicknesses to a minimum.

Lining the timber frame studs internally, either with general purpose boards or insulated plasterboards to provide a decoration-ready finish, helps with the detailing of insulation at floor/wall and wall/ceiling junctions to maintain the continuity of the thermal envelope and deliver energy savings for the life of the building.

Celotex currently does not offer a product for use in applications above 18m. If you have any questions, please contact Celotex Technical.
